What is the only product that is consumed by 100% of consumers? If you answered, “Food,” then you answered correctly.

Despite this universal product need, the market has failed to keep up and, as a result, feeding the world’s growing population presents a tremendous challenge for the coming decades.  The solution to the large gap between supply and demand will only be met by new technologies that improve agricultural yields, product shelf life, and distribution. All this must be accomplished without increasing costs or the environmental “footprint” of farming. Read the full article.

  • Sol Chip Wins Best Harvesting Technology Award  Hats off to Sol Chip for winning the Technical Development Award at the 2013 IDTechEx Energy Harvesting & Storage and Wireless Sensor Networks Event.  Sol Chip developed a unique solar-operated battery for use in precision agriculture and a variety of other applications. Read some of the media coverage about Sol Chip’s award.

  • Leviticus Cardio Completes Successful Trial  Leviticus Cardio recently performed a successful animal trial of its wireless coplanar energy transfer system (CET) for ventricular assist devices (VADs). Michael Zilbershlag, Leviticus co-founder and CEO, stated: “This successful trial is a significant milestone in validating our technology and advancing towards commercialization.” VADs extend the lives of thousands of patients suffering from chronic heart failure or waiting for a heart transplant.

Saturas, a precision agriculture company, is developing a miniature stem water potential (SWP) sensor that can be embedded into tree trunks, vines, and plants to enable farmers to optimize irrigation for reduced water consumption and increased fruit production and quality. Anat Solomon-Halgoa is the company’s CEO.

  • Trendlines Looks East  In March 2013, Trendlines hosted a delegation of representatives from the Tiajin Industrial Development Area, a state-run high-tech park in China, specializing in green technology, biotech, medical devices, software, and IT.

  • Todd Dollinger Participates in International Technology Transfer Congress 2013  Todd was invited to participate in the International Technology Transfer Congress in Beijing where he addressed an audience of 1,500 people and participated in a panel discussion.
  • Trendlines Strengthens Maryland Ties In March 2013, the U.S. Embassy organized the Select USA program to promote business in the United States. Debbie Yerushalmy, Trendlines Senior Business Development Consultant, presented the unique opportunities offered by the State of Maryland to Israeli businesses.

  • Trendlines Signs Agreement with U.S. Hospital The Trendlines Group recently signed a collaboration agreement with Baltimore’s Sinai Hospital to develop new healthcare solutions. Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley announced the agreement during his visit to Israel in April. The Governor’s visit served to strengthen Maryland’s ties with Israeli leaders and to promote the ongoing business exchange between Maryland and Israel.

It’s true! And now it’s time to talk investment. This year, we added a six-day tour to our Agrivest Conference to specifically give international participants an overview of what Israel has to offer the world in agritech. The conference itself, on December 3, 2013, will bring together investors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to discuss the tremendous opportunity represented by agritech innovations.

BioMed promises a varied and interesting program.
