On 15 August 2017, Israel’s Economy Minister and member of parliament, Eli Cohen visited Trendlines’ offices on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Group. He was accompanied by a large contingent from his ministry, as well as Aharon Aharon, CEO of Israel’s Innovation Authority and Ron Shani, the mayor of the Misgav Regional Council.

Together with the CEO of the Investment Authority, Nachum Itzkovitz, VP Strategy at the Ministry of the Economy, Michal Fink and their teams, the Minister met with Chairman and CEO of the Trendlines Group, Steve Rhodes and the CEO of Trendlines Incubators Israel, Nitza Kardish.

During the visit, Eli Cohen announced two new programs designed to encourage industries in the north: an incentive program for companies and a program to increase productivity in the area. The programs aim to encourage companies to relocate to the north and will provide budgets of hundreds of millions of shekels to provide salary incentives, encourage entrepreneurs, and knowledge centers in multiple technological fields to set up in the north. Additionally, the discussion focused on plans to entice high-tech companies to open subsidiaries in the north, of the quality of human capital in the area, and on making programs accessible to traditional industries allowing them to innovate and progress in areas in which they are already active.

In his meetings with Trendlines’ management and some of the CEOs of the incubator start-ups, the Minister congratulated Trendlines on its activities and successes which bring economic strength to the area.

Ron Shani, Misgav Regional Council mayor added, ” The Economy Ministry’s suggested programs are a step in the right direction. It’s important for the Galilee to preserve its relative advantage to other areas close by. Quality employment opportunities will attract a strong population to the area and further economic growth.”
