Last year marked another year of achievements for Trendlines, our portfolio companies and our entrepreneurs. Although there were a number of significant highlights throughout the year, we have chosen these six standouts:

  1. New kids on the block: We started 7 new companies (4 medical and 3 agtech). At the end of the year, we held substantial positions in almost 45 companies. Our newest companies are Enology Wise Technologies, Escala Medical, Fidmi Medical, OrthoSpin, Vensica Medical, ViAqua Therapeutics, and Virentes.
  2. Raise up: More than half our portfolio companies — 26 to be exact — completed raises with Israeli, American, Canadian, Chinese, and European investors.
  3. This way out: We had 2 exits to multinational companies: OPKO Health acquired Inspiro Medical in May; the second exit remains confidential.  (We’ve had a total of 4 exits over the last 18 months, including acquisitions by Baxter and Teleflex.)
  4. Our “hat trick”: In June, we scored big at the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) annual awards: Trendlines Medical took the Best Incubator award for the second time, and 2 portfolio companies were named Best Start-Up. The OCS has given 8 Best Start-Up awards in the last three years and our portfolio companies have taken 5 of those awards.
  5. We’re honored: In November, the American Society of Haifa University honored us with their Global Business Development Award.
  6. Trendlines Showcase 2015

At our 5th Annual Company Showcase, attendees heard keynote speaker Jon Medved, founder and CEO of OurCrowd, address why it makes sense to invest in Israel.

Best in Show(case): Our 5th Annual Company Showcase in January 2015 was our largest ever with nearly 500 registered for the event. Our guests heard from 13 portfolio companies, interacted with 7 expert panelists, and heard a rousing keynote from OurCrowd’s Jon Medved about “why investing in Israeli start-ups has become better than ever.” See highlights and a photo gallery. (Yes, we know, technically, it’s a 2015 achievement!)

Looking ahead:

  • From March 23 to 27, we’re taking 5 medical companies — Arcuro Medical, Endobetix,Omeq Medical, S.T. Stent, VisiDome — on a 5-city U.S. road show. Look for us in Atlanta, Charleston (South Carolina), Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Chicago.
  • April 27 marks our 3rd AgriVest Conference, the agritech investment event and Israeli agritech company competition. This year’s event is the day before Agritech 2015, the 19th International Agricultural Exhibition & Conference in Tel Aviv.
  • From May 12 to 14, we’ll again be exhibiting at Biomed in Tel Aviv.

And that’s just the first half of the year.

We look forward to continuing to create and develop companies to improve the human condition by working together with our investors, entrepreneurs, inventors, and strategic partners to leverage our strengths and achieve more for all.
